I've never understood the American Conservative bogey of "socialism" - surely those who screech it loudest are being paid the most by private interests who are opposed to change? That's pretty transparent to outsiders, but are the American people really so naive to think it doesn't motivate the Right's loudest voices??? A few years ago a number of prominent Right-wing radio personalities here in Australia had their dirty dealings exposed to public view. One in particular was paid substantial amounts to tone down his attacks on a certain bank, though he got louder about their competitors.
