My only problem with the news media is that they're not addressing America's biggest problems:
1. A housing inflation crisis that has made approximately one third of the country (renters) a permanent underclass because astronomical rents don't allow people to save money. A large number of factors have caused this over the past 40 years.
2. The most unnecessarily expensive public and private health insurance system on the planet that waste at least one to two trillion dollars of year and helps to inhibit employers from raising wages.
3. Continued cultural tribalism resulting from the continued housing segregation.
4. The Presidential Electoral College system that is gradually undermining America's democratic republic. Two presidents (Bush and Trump) who were elected through the electoral college rather than through a democratic majority have caused a huge amount of damage to America and to the world, IMO.
5. The political fiasco of allowing a mere 600,000 people (America's homeless population) to economically and psychologically undermine the future of 333 million hard working or retired Americans and their families.
6. The lack of any serious rehabilitation through labor policy in our prison systems.

Cannot argue with a thing you said. My intent was to point out why the news organizations, particularly cable and social media, are so flawed. GW
